one of the things i really like about working until later is that i get to hear this american life on the way home. last night was particularly interested. the episode was called by proxy (you can download it here for free…) the first act was what was more interesting to me. davy rothbart was talking about wanting to help people who seem to only come around when they need help. you are their problem solver. you feel needed and they get a solution. you feel smart and they get help. it (not really) works out for everyone involved. anyway. it was just great. i’m thinking about listening to it again. so anyway. this has been a reoccurring theme in my life, and i guess i’m just happy that i don’t have to deal with it on the level that davy did for this story.
work has been busy. i’ve been dreaming about it which is always a bad sign. i’m finally sleeping again. i think staying up really late on sat. and then getting up super early put me back on track. and sleeping with the a/c on. (in case i didn’t mention, i went to the worst place on earth, anaheim, last week or the week before.) my sleep was highly disrupted by that trip. i did get to see lots of people that i like there. mainly, they’re from pgh, but still, we get to see each other like twice a year at these events. i have homework to do before i go on my next trip at the end of the month. lots of reading and writing to prep so i think i’ll work on that today in the back away from my computer! (yes, google is making me stupid, i know it for sure. you should read that article too. it took me hours to read it b/c, guess what, i couldn’t concentrate…)
i barely talked about austin, it was amazing as always. look at the pics if you wish.
i’ve been watching mad men like nobody’s business. that is the best show since six feet under. i swoon over that show. if i met don draper, i would be smitten and just a big ol’ pile of putty. maybe i live in the wrong era? i would not be good with the whole domesticity thing but i guess i could be like the arty chick. whatever. anyway. if i start dressing and wearing stockings about town, please stop me and take away my cable.
ok, i have to go read some of my homework.
