Gutter Twins Announce Release Date, Shows

By Amy Phillips

Valentine’s Day: a time for flowers, candy, snuggles, kisses, hugs, and all that gooey stuff. Who better to spend it with than Greg Dulli, the Afghan Whigs/Twilight Singers master of the depraved psycho-sexual mindfuck?

On February 14, 2008, the Gutter Twins, Dulli’s collaboration with Screaming Trees/QOTSA/Soulsavers dude Mark Lanegan, will hit the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. How romantic!

The date is the first of five for the Twins, who will be celebrating the March 4 Sub Pop release of their debut album Saturnalia. In a press release, Dulli says, “I couldn’t tell you what Saturnalia’s theme is, but there’s a seeking of transcendence that’s new. I have never written songs like this before. It’s a different temple I’m visiting.”

Lanegan is on tour with Soulsavers right now. [MORE...]

do the benefits outweigh the feelings of stress? November 21, 2007

Filed under: friends, gbg, knitting, logicwillbreakyourheart — sortofcrafty @ 1:41 pm

good news, no kids this week at work.  what does that mean?  i can write in peace and quiet and not constantly have to be interrupted.  amazing feeling to just be able to write when i need to and just churn out the product.

also good news, in my office (i use that term loosely) i can listen to internet radio.  somehow i have remembered to listen to morning become eclectic all this week.  bad news, today’s guest is AIR.  i don’t mind AIR, except, you guessed it, when they use those BS computer voices.  so my policy thus far has been, just listen and if it gets too stressful, i’ll turn down the volume.  no computer voices yet, but i can feel them coming.

other good news, i am seriously almost done with eliza.  gosh, it’s only been about 2000 years since i started this.  seriously, i did start it well over a year ago.  i took a break from knitting entirely during the summer, but  i still have no excuse, it was easy, so far.  just have the straps to finish and then the sewing and we’ll be in business.

done with work early today, so i think i’ll go drink coffee and knit for a bit.  benefits of living near my fav. coffee shop.

i have a pile of Polaroids from my bday party so i’ll scan and have them up tomorrow, i swear.  i think it was my last birthday party.  good times, just not so much my scene with so many people.  i started thinking about how new year’s is coming and i have made a decision, and i’m putting in writing, there will be no participation in new years.  none.  just another end of the month.

for some reason i have felt terribly nostalgic this week.  i just thought about what i was doing one year ago, two years ago.  last year was blurry, but two years ago is so clear. standing under the awning chatting with a friend in the rain.  i’ll stop now b/f i get myself into trouble with my hindsight is 20/20 talk.

a whole lotta tv November 12, 2007

Filed under: tv — sortofcrafty @ 7:06 pm

i watched some television while i was in the hotel, at the mothership, this week.
i guess i saw about 2 hours of tv, and here’s what i saw, worth noting.

- the end of what seems like another funny episode of 30 rock.  funny.
- the best “that’s what she said” joke of the office so far, a joke with a message, i guess (i.e. don’t turn into your boss)
- an epsiode of scrubs.  i’ll just say it, yeah, that show needs to end, zach braff, why don’t you amuse me any more?  was it due to braff overload when comedy central started running scrubs??  don’t know.
- music videos. wow, there are some terrible bands out there.
- continuing on the music video theme, a bruce springsteen video. also an alicia keys video, three times within an hour on two different      stations. that’s excessive.
- bob dylan selling cadillacs. i cannot speak of that ever again.
