i’m a desperate girl and that terrifies me. August 29, 2007

did you see the full moon last night?  the sky was clear and the moon was orange and crazy big in the sky.  i was happy that i was unaware of it being a full moon- i.e. that i didn’t feel completely psycho.

school is in session and it’s busy like never before. it’s like night and day here as compared to the summer.  i can’t get over it.  no teaching for me until next week. that’s good news b/c i am not at all prepped for my lessons. meeting more faculty, so i dig that, in addition to meeting and helping students.

my office is still in a major state of disarray. eventually i guess we’ll all be back in working order.

i am pretty excited about the big ol’ move.  planning where to put stuff, how to set up the space.  i will be so geeked when i get into the space and can move things all around.  so, only a week and some until the move.  i can’t even believe it all came together so quickly.  i’ll post photos of the space if i can take them before i move…

additional things of note:

my boss and i wore practically the same outfit last week- last monday i wore a brown plaid skirt with a pleat, green top, brown boots, jean blazer.  yea, she work brown plaid skirt pleated, green shirt, jean jacket and brown boots.  how embarrassing!!  it was so freaking trippy.

i heard this band on the way home tonight, the rosebuds, from raleigh. they are so freaking good. check them out on myspace. i did and found out they are touring with the national, duh, that’s why i dig them.  the subject of this post came from them btw. (**sorry it should be noted that i heard them play acoustic on world cafe, and so it wasn’t as dancey, check out, not that i am against dancey, i’m not. the songs i heard were more dark and weird. check out “leaves do fall” from birds make good neighbors on amazon.com )

that’s all from here.

suddenly, as school is ready to start, it’s summer all over again.  just to torture me.  no time for swimming once school starts. seriously, it is just insane out there.

work has been hectic. i was asked if i was a student this week, which of course i love, i finally got to see some kids this week. when i say kids, i mean college students. did some reading discussion groups (can i just say that teachers particularly in the area of english, rock, b/c kids are so hard to engage when they have no interest in what you are talking about. btw, does anyone ready for fun these days???) faculty orientation (i can’t get used to saying that i belong to the faculty, it creeps me out a bit) .

the big news is that as of next week, drum roll please, i have a swanky apartment to live in.  i love it.  i adore it.  perfect location, perfect apartment, aside from there not being a front porch.  just have to coordinate with the movers and get my stuff there and i am good to go.  for those who are interested, i’ll have you over for coffee or tea (byot, i don’t drink it so you need to bring that over) and you can check it out.  those of you out of towners, come visit me, please.

i hung out with c tonight. plus i went to red star for a bit, i seriously hadn’t been there in like 4 months (can you believe?!).  it was one of those nights that feels like 3 night smashed together.  different acts of a play.  i know, that doesn’t make any sense.  there were times when i felt so out of place and so out of the mix, and then other times when i felt good.  it’s still hard to not feel awkward, like all the time.  i remedied that situation on the way home by listening to 1965 at full blast, singing and feeling great, thinking about how much i love that album and how much i loved seeing a.w. during that tour, like 1200 times.  and meeting gd.  seriously, what more can a girl ask for? i highly recommend this cd, even m digs it.  well, actually, i don’t think some people would like it, b/c the sleaze that is gd is not for them.

so, the weekend will be calm, especially after last weekend, with it’s redneck madness.  so, that is all.

i am heading into the A/C now. over and out.

let’s call the whole thing off. August 16, 2007

it’s been a crazy week, no blog time.  moving at work (which makes me think of real moving, which is so far away, see below…) i feel useless.  i have no stuff at work and i was the last to be moved (no computer access at present b/c they are wiring me) and i just feel like i am a bump at work.  i don’t know. i feel useless.

i had one of the most awesome chats with a friend today.  i miss them and it was great to speak like we used to, totally frank and open and not tip toeing about issues, and just being us.  i really missed it.  i told them how much i dug something that they are involved in and they seemed truly flattered. i had been avoiding it b/c i felt like, jeez, it will just set them off, but it was great.

i got the proof of my trading card and it is sick.  i had an electronic version already (viewable on my work fb acct) and so the print is in the works.  if you have no idea what the hell i am talking about, but you actually want to know about my trading card, ask me.

so, i (think) i have decided to not take that apartment. it’s just too much and not enough space, not that it’s tiny, but i just don’t think after all this time that it’s the right one.  the worst part about this, back to the f-ing drawing board of the apartment hunt.  mo fo.  i hate this.  seriously, i need to stop thinking about this b/c i will start crying.

this week i decided that i wanted to eat a toaster strudel, remember those?  the high class pop tart?  well, i thought it would be delightful, and instead i have a giant blister on my finger from the burn i received from the sizzling toaster strudel. yeah, i think i don’t want them anymore, ever.  sorry for the gross ass posting.

now listening to: the national from the 9:30 club

it’s that time of year again where i talk about how awesome michele is. we’ve been friends now for about 15 years, it doesn’t even seem possible! she’s the best, she likes me so much that she followed me back to pgh just so we could hang out in the basement and watch tv (well before we both got totally busy…) and sometimes drink 2 buck chuck or jd, just depending on our mood. so she’s the coolest and i adore her.

happy birthday, michele.
