i did some applique this week, using some old ties and a dyed tote bag, i dig it for spring.

i have an out of town interview coming up, big news, i know. i am so freaking psyched, but trying to not be overly excited and get my hopes up too much.

i have been listening to the new national song, fake empire. it makes me feel so excited to possibly see them live this summer, we’ll see i guess, where i am living, etc. but the song has this build up that is just amazing.

michele and i are going to hang out today, the weather is fantastic. there’s lots going on, happy hour this weekend maybe with a friend i never see, snb, last weekend was low key but i did put my sewing skills to work for a friend who is finishing her mfa and needed some extra hands. that was fun, i can’t wait to see her final product.

ok, that’s all.

intriguing… March 23, 2007

there is a new bar/restaurant that i see advertised in the city paper in pgh, the library. not much on the website, but still looks intriguing.

additionally, my love for jeff klein continues. he put up a new version of my favorite song on his myspace, kiss and tell. listen to it, worship it like me.

Donal Logue in Maxim

From Maxim Magazine’s March 2007 issue’s interview with actor Donal Logue:

Maxim: What song plays as you die?

DL: “A Twilight Singers tune, I need Greg Dulli to haunt and instruct
my death as he has my life”.

ok, so it wasn’t written in a decent magazine, but i dig that donal keeps selling greg, ya know?

third time is the charm March 13, 2007

i have hit my head in one way or another three separate times today.

1. blow drying hair (upside down). hair dryer hits end of sink, bounces into my head (forehead)

2. getting into the car, hit forehead/top of head into door frame

3. sitting on my bed, smash head into wall (back of head) makes loud noise.

if i don’t remember this tomorrow, please tell me why i have a headache.

confessions of a bitter old soul March 10, 2007

i notice sometimes that when i am tired, i am less tolerant of people’s laziness or just plain questionable behaviour.  i can’t take being around people who are closed minded and immature.  not that i beg for these to be my close confidants when i am not tired, but when i feel tired, i feel done with it all. maybe it’s just age….
why i am bothering to blog this rather than sleep, that i cannot answer, i guess i am just getting so bitter that i feel the need to spead the love.

snap! March 7, 2007

i forgot to mention the most bizarre thing that has happened in quite a while…

d and i were on the metro a few weeks ago (i went to visit and ending up extending my visit when it snowed six inches!!) and we notice three youngish guys get on at the stop for the convention center. they look kind of hipster-ish, one has a handlebar mustache, then we notice that each of them are holding mexican wrestling masks. really. they look new, the masks, and they don’t seem to have “mexican wrestler mask hair” i.e. sweaty and disheveled. anyway, we went so far as to look up any wrestling events for that night on the web, but no info.

it felt like something i could not get my head wrapped about that night…

i want to write a missed connection about those guys.

i just got into the okkervil river cd but i could listen to it nearly continually, also, the video for “for real” is on mypsace and it is beautiful, in addition to the song just being great itself.

the national cd was suggested to me by someone who sings in a hardcore/metal -esque band, so i had a hardtime believing that i would dig the cd- it has this weird dirty vibe to it with a nick cave voice and it lived up to the hype i heard from my friend.  i listened to it nearly all of last week including a few times in the car to dc….  so check them both out.
