am i the only one staying in this hotel? November 26, 2006

i feel like no one else is a guest in this hotel, adding to the already desolate feeling of this town. i should have gone swimming. indoor pool= good. free internet in the hotel is even better.

i am feeling a bit nervous about tomorrow, the full day interview thing is so intimindating. oh well.

the weekend was good. lots of stuff to do. wednesday i went over to h’s for a bit after doing homework. we got her house ready for her huge (18 peeps plus babies) thanksgiving dinner. didn’t stay too late, i was soooo super tired driving home that night.

thursday my fam and i went to teddy’s for our dinner. it was only my parents and my aunt, hardly worth all the prepping and cooking. actually, none of us even ate turkey. went over to h’s after to hang out and meet some of her fam and then headed to michele’s sisters to hang out.
friday i did lots of work, writing a paper for school and prepping for my interview. i don’t think i did anything that night. can’t recall.

saturday i did some more homework and went with t to a show for another person we know. it was a lot of waiting around, but it was ok. i still like seeing bands, not lame ones mind you, but ones i dig or want to support. also, there was a trip to the scariest bar in latrobe. i never thought i’d be back there, but alas, i end up there when i go to shows meant for 14 year olds. i rushed home to get ready to go with michele to meet some of her friends for some food in monroeville. it was originally supposed to be shogun, but it got changed to taipei tokyo which was good. got to see their nice house and chat with michele about the perils of text messaging.

ok, i am going to try and review my presentation and knit some and finish watching fast times at ridgemont high.

travelling woman November 22, 2006

i have my first real job interview (a full day affair) next monday, think of me and wish me luck, peeps.  i’m travelling down to md on sunday night and hopefully will get to partake of the indoor pool at the hotel.  i wish i wasn’t going alone, but who would really want to spend a full day while interview, just hanging out? that would be a total mean friend thing to do.  anyway, i’m excited.

i got asked to another in-person (no phone interview even… hmmm) but i can’t go since it’s more than a few hours away until after i graduate, so i had to try and put that one off, who knows.  am i really interested.. don’t know.

so more resumes out there and only a few rejections at this point.  it’s a really weird time b/c i am expected to be hauling ass to get school work done, but really the job is in the long term, the real thing to concentrate on…. prioritization, don’t know.

what else.  no school this week, just work (which had a makeover last week, so it looks totally new, yet i still sit in the same exact place….)

what else.  lots of people are travelling for thanksgiving, but i am staying right here.  we are dining out tomorrow.  ok, i think i am done boring you with the small details of my life…..

birthday party

so the party is long over. i am sure even my poor birthday balloon (thanks debster) that got loose inside of red star has been taken down….. i hope the rest of the birthday girls had a good time, i had a freaking blast. i guess the booty bags were a hit too. i cannot believe that all but one of the people who were invited turned up.
oh yeah, there were some people there who were friends with heather and i thought, wow that guy looks totally familiar, then i realized that i went to school with him (1st through 12th grade if you can believe, we have last names that are close in the alphabet so that we always sat close….) i was so freaking suprised to know that h’s bf knows this guys wife. totally random.

we closed the joint down, in the fashion in which we used to back in the day, you know back when i was like 27…..

oh, i have another phone interview later this week or next. and i applied for another job today. this job searching bs is like a job unto itself.

i had my first in person interview around pgh, it went ok, i am not sure that it’s the job for me. but the good news is i have another in person interview scheduled for after thanksgiving- the big all day academic library interview this time… but it should be cool. i hope anyway.

tonight is the big pirate party for all the november birthdays at red star. i am psyched. heather and i stuffed the booty/loot bags last night, so we’re all set. i made a couple of quick presents for people so i think i am ready. it will be a totally random crowd since there are people coming from all areas of my life. i don’t think it’ll be bad, just strange to see different groups together, worlds collide!!!

so, i am now 29, if you can believe.

i’m out do some homework for once in my life….

michele and i went to see marie antoinette on tuesday afternoon, in squirrel hill. i really dug the movie. beautiful, cool, all around a cool movie. plus fab. music. of course i could not help but think of my own upbrining, quite similar to marie’s. the clothes, the hair, the shoes. all what i was like as a teenager. of course, i did not marry that young nor did i become queen of france, thank goodness if you know what i mean…

the week was a bit random, did some more service learning which involve teaching non-english speakers to vote using the next controversial voting machines. not as many non-english speakers as expected. we were promised a happy hour after with our prf. but he was too busy to bother with us. but the class did go hang out and drink coffee after in sq. hill so that was good.

another phone interview this week for a job in md (the mountains….) and then i have a in-person interview for a local place next friday. so that’s two jobs in the mix- i was totally getting fearful that noone would even want to talk to me, that i sucked that bad.

the pirate party is next weekend, so i started planning that and sending out the invites. (if i didn’t get an invitation to you and you read this, let me know, b/c i am sure you were supposed to be invited)
(apparently, the weather now says that it will be warmer than normal and maybe rain…)
